The month of October brings a lot of color to the Midwest. The days grow shorter and soon the trees paint the landscape in oranges, yellows and reds. However, one October color stands out even among the vibrancy of fall: pink.

In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, many show support by wearing pink clothing, decorating their businesses in pink and even dying their hair a lively fuchsia. Such efforts raise awareness for an important cause and reveal a growing support network for those affected by breast cancer.

At Forte Research Systems, we work to support the cancer community by providing technology solutions to increase efficiencies in the clinical research industry. We believe research is vital to the fight against breast cancer, and all cancers.

To help advance local cancer research, Forte acted as the presenting sponsor for the 2016 Race for Research, hosted by the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center on October 1, 2016. This event allowed participants to spread awareness for research by running or walking a 5k route on Madison, Wisconsin’s beautiful university campus.

Over 1,200 people participated on race day, including members of Team Forte. As a result of individual and team donations, this year’s Race for Research raised over $119,000 to benefit cancer research at the UW Carbone Cancer Center.

It’s always amazing to see the genuine support and acceptance of the cancer community. The Carbone Race for Research proved an opportunity for Madison to rally behind clinical researchers and assist their efforts to find therapies and improve quality of life for individuals affected by cancer.
